After turning heads with his debut single “The Way Down”—hailed by Obscure Sound as a “delectable psych-rocking success”—Matt C. White cranks the intensity with his latest release, “Blood Divine”. The second single from his upcoming concept album A Cosmic Year, this track is a hypnotic, percussive psych-rock whirlwind that stomps, snarls, and sways its way through a storm of fuzz and groove.
Slightly Fuzzed is proud to premiere the latest single from Matt C. White, Blood Divine. Keep an eye out for his new solo album, A Cosmic Year, out August 22!
About Blood Divine
White’s signature blend of heavy distortion, deep rhythm, and sonic experimentation is alive and well, but “Blood Divine” feels like a new beast altogether. Kicking off with ominous wah-drenched guitars, the track launches into a primal, almost ritualistic rhythm section that feels less like a rock song and more like a fever dream set to tape. It’s wild, unpredictable, and wildly addictive.
Lyrically, White digs deep—way deep. “I wanted to write about this sort of ancient conflict,” he explains. “Since the beginning of time, predators have been consuming prey in order to steal their blood divine. All conflict, in some way, is about resources and survival—and blood is the ultimate currency.” It’s a heavy concept, but White delivers it with a pulse-pounding immediacy that makes you feel like you’re hearing an age-old myth come alive through amps and analog fuzz.
The track’s churning tempo and chanted vocals build a sense of urgency, while the swirling synths and warbling keys—hallmarks of A Cosmic Year—add a cosmic shimmer to the gritty chaos. Somewhere between ancient ritual and garage freak-out, “Blood Divine” is pure psychedelic mayhem with a brain.
If this is any indication of what A Cosmic Year has in store, it’s going to be one hell of a trip.
About Matt C. White

Matt C. White cut his teeth on swampy blues riffs in rural North Carolina before expanding his sonic palette with alt and prog rock giants like Soundgarden and Mastodon. After relocating to NYC in 2011, he quickly became a fixture in the city’s underground scene—first with blues rockers Dead Seconds, then with the fuzz-fueled, psychedelic trio Grandpa Jack. Known for his soulful Southern tone and genre-bending approach, White has toured nationally, appeared as a Keeley Electronics artist, and currently lays down thick riffs with Brooklyn bands Certain Death and 95 Bulls. His upcoming solo album, A Cosmic Year (out August 2025 via White Locust Records), promises a wild blend of stoner doom, classic rock, and psychedelic flair—imagine Santana jamming with Ty Segall in a dreamscape of fuzz.
